July 19 2001
PEG PEREGO U.S.A., INC. AND NHTSA ANNOUNCE A SAFETY
RECALL OF THE PEG PEREGO “PRIMO VIAGGIO” CAR SEAT
Peg
Perego USA, Inc. (“Peg Perego”), in cooperation with the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) is
voluntarily recalling its Primo Viaggio infant car seats due to the
occurrence of a non-compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Standard
No. 213 in some of its infant seats.
Some of these seats may have been assembled incorrectly, such
that the latching mechanism on the left side (from the baby’s
perspective) may not engage the latching rod (in the base)
completely. In those
cases, the infant seat will not be completely secured to the infant
car seat base in the vehicle.
Peg Perego and NHTSA have received no reports of
injuries from consumers.
These
infant seats were sold separately with a base as the Primo Viaggio
infant seat or bundled with a stroller and sold as Pliko Travel
System or Primo Viaggio Travel System. They were produced from
February 1, 2001 to and including June 10, 2001.
Consumers
who returned their Product Registration Cards will be sent
instructions to inspect and service their Primo Viaggio directly
from Peg Perego. Other
